I am offended as a Minister and an American by the comments made by President Obama to the leaders in the faith community. I don't think that his plan to reform healthcare is a good one. On the Weekly Reality Check I've spoken out against it. In fact I am preparing to take on President Obama's speech this evening with my good friend Rev. Pinkney, but before I begin the prep for tonight's show I would like to share a couple thoughts with you.
As a Minister I am offended because people come to ministers for help during a crisis. They trust us to tell them the truth, to offer them comfort, support, and guidence. How are the people to trust what we tell them if they have to worry about us pushing President Obama's version of morality on them? As ministers our instruction, our guide to helping others comes from the Word of God NOT the word of President Obama.
As an American I am angered by the way President Obama implied that to disagree with him is to be a liar. Did I wake up in some Twilight Zone Episode??? Why would any U.S. President try to silence his opposition in such a foul manner? Many brave men and women fought to secure and maintain our freedom. Some even paid the ultimate price so that you and I could have a voice. As president, Obama, should be celebrating and honoring our Vets not insulting them by trying to make it unamerican to disagree with him.
In closing I ask that before you hesistate to exercise your freedoms because it is viewed as unpopular that you take a moment to remember those that died so that you may live free. Honor their sacrifice and exercise your freedoms daily.
